Becoming a Public Record Researcher

Researching public records sounds like it could be boring, but it isn't. This is a business that is all about people.

If you become a public record researcher, you will develop the ability and expertise to help people in very significant ways. It is a really great feeling to reunite family members who have been apart for many years or to tell a business owner that the person who he is about to hire or has already hired either has no past or has a criminal past. You could be saving your client thousands of dollars and years of problems. It is always a good feeling to do a job and do it well, no matter how it comes out. Helping a client who has trusted you with his/her hiring decisions is a large responsibility.

Computers have opened up a whole new world to the public record researcher. Either for profit or simply trying to find your brother's latest address is now possible for the on-line researcher. Many States, cities and counties now allow PC access directly or sell their public record information to large companies who re-organize and re-sell the information too folks like you and me. However it is handled, massive amounts of information is now available on-line with more coming on-line everyday. States are passing new updated public records laws that will eventually allow most if not all public records to be readily available without the traditional visit to the court house.

If you don't like sales, this could be a good business for you. There is very little selling involved. The only selling is when the client is told what is involved in his or her search and what the cost will be. There is no cold calling or door knocking. You do this business from your home without leaving it. There are information resources that do the majority of the work. Your big job is making the decision what to access based on the information provided by the client and the client's budget.

Success in Public Records Research depends on how effective your marketing efforts are. Marketing will make or break you. It is by far the most expensive, the most intrusive and the most repeated thing you will do in your business. It is who you are, what you are, and will define how you will do things. Without a solid marketing plan, you will most likely be out of business before long.

Marketing and all of the resources you need to become a public records researcher are included in my HomeDataBiz opportunity. (You also get my unlimited phone support.) To be successful, your own creativity is important too. Here is an example of one woman who created a web site to market her business: Big Sister Research

The most important trait you need to be successful in this business is persistence. You have to have patience and a bull dog approach to getting the job done. You can't let yourself be distracted and you must always check and confirm your information. Verify, verify, verify.

Your computer has made it possible for you to do the best supplemental money-maker there is. This business will probably not make you rich but it will make you a nice supplemental income. Stay tuned to this space and we will have lots more information about becoming a public records researcher.
